Hi,


If you want ESXi 4.1 on HP server, HP provide customized ESXi (all device drivers are contained in an ESXi installer) then after installation, you need an ESXi license key to activate ESXi. To get an ESXi license key, download an ESXi installer from the official VM web.


I also need to activate ESXi 4.1 U2 installed on the HP ML350 Gen 8 so I am trying to download ESXi4.1 U2 from a link here,

https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/details?downloadGroup=ESXI41U2&productId=230&download=true&fileId=0aa78790a336c5fc6ba…

but can not download it.

I get this error message "You either are not entitled or do not have permissions to download this product.Check with your My VMware Super User, Procurement Contact or Administrator. If you recently purchased this product through VMware Store or through a third-party, try downloading later."

I created another user account and tried but no luck.

Ok.

The term "local user" in vSphere typically means a user that exists locally to the host.  Hence the confusion here.

Add Members to a vCenter Single Sign-On Group

 

 

Members of a vCenter Single Sign-On group can be users or other groups from one or more identity sources. You can add new members from the vSphere Web Client.

Groups listed on the Groups tab in the vSphere Web Client are internal to vCenter Single Sign-On and are part of the vsphere.local domain. You can add group members from other domains to a local group. You can also nest groups.

Procedure

Log in to the vSphere Web Client as administrator@vsphere.local or as another user with vCenter Single Sign-On administrator privileges.

Browse to Administration> Single Sign-On> Users and Groups.

Click the Groups tab and click the group (for example, Administrators).

In the Group Members area, click the Add Members icon.

Select the identity source that contains the member to add to the group.

(Optional) Enter a search term and click Search.

Select the member and click Add.

You can simultaneously add multiple members.

Click OK.

The selected user or group is a member of the group and appears in the lower panel of the Groups tab.

I used westmere because there was some old hosts in the same cluster as

this and I was migrating vms off the old hosts to these new ones. I rather

use merom but that will mean I have to shutdown all my vms to do that?

 

Is there problem with staying at westmere?

I'm not able to get the Java Application to successfully run a health check on view.

 

It continues to generate the below error. View 5.3 and Horizon 6.0.

 

INFO [Util] Collection failed with message=A service error occurred during collection.. Updated DatasetStatus=FAILURE. CollectorStatus=CANCELED DsId=aaa7a6cf-56fd-42c3-bfff-29d126398db3

 

Any ideas?

Customization windows 7 doesn't join domain

Hello Guys,

 

I need your help about a customization specs doesn't work properly on my vcenter 5.0.

 

I try to deploy VMs from a windows 7 template (joined to domain and view agent installed).

 

Below the configuration of my customization specification config :

All specs are applied, just only the domain join was not working.

 

And I find my domain Netbios name is added as a workgroup name.

 

Can you please help me about this problem

What are you trying to accomplish? If you are trying to put certain VMs on specific datastores it would be better to use reservation policies through vRA.

     Здравствуйте! Тоже интересует такой вопрос.

     Сейчас пробую vmware workstation 11  на i3 3220 (3.3GHz), 8GB 1333MHz, WD RED 1TB x 2шт., видеокарту использую интегрированную, OS Windows 2008r2 Datacenter, резервное копирование Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation Server 11, антивирус Microsoft Essential.

     Вопросы следующие:

     1. Имеются ли уменьшение производительности в зависимости от производителя процессоров intel и amd (т.е. программа хуже работает с технологией интел или амд, менее оптимизирована и т.д.).


     note: Был случай рассказывали знакомые, одна программа (на подобии 1С sql, написанная на java) чувствительно лучше работала на intel, чем на amd (тормозила), хотя другие работали нормально и там и там.

    

    2. Нужно поднять 60 виртуальных машин, в каждой виртуалке win7ultimate x86, adobe acrobat, office стандарт, winrar, антивирус и дать ресурсы: ОЗУ 3gb, hdd 100gb, 1 ядро . На некоторых будут ещё по 1-2 доп.программы: налогоплательщик, ндфл, криптопро, сбис. 1С клиент(базы будут на другой виртуальной машине отдельно, без лишних программ: только OS windows 7, антивирус).

    

    3. Для стандартной конфигурации( win7ultimate x86, 3gb, hdd 100gb, adobe acrobat, office стандарт, winrar, антивирус) можно посадить на один HDD (допустимWD RE WD1003FBYZ, 1Тб, HDD, SATA III, 3.5") две виртуалки без видимого ущерба производительности. Виртуалка с 1C баз будет одна на hdd (допустим WD VelociRaptor WD2500HHTZ) OS windows 7 x86, антивирус.

   

    4. Тест производительности процессоров cpu bencmark для оценки под виртуалзацию можно на него ориентироваться при выборе камня.


    5. По функционалу vmware workstation 11 полностью устраивает (прокидывал аппаратные ключи usb сбербанка, 4G модем M100-4 Huawai E3272), устанавливал вируталку windows 2012 со службой Hyper-v всё работает, есть ли отличия от esxi ( производительность? если да, то на сколько (можно в %), обрезан функционал, то в чём?

 

    p.s. По тестам  amd 8350(8320) кажется лучшее предложение (с учётом более дорогостоящей системы охлаждения, и чуть дороже материнской платы) , но хочу узнать какой процессор посоветуйте: цена/производительно/качество. Думаю последнее "качество" у обоих производителей одинаковое (дома стоит уже 2 года 24/7 прокси, торрент качалка, файл-сервер шара, на амд athlon x64 3800+, 1.5gb ОЗУ под win2008r2 standart, винт менял (старый был), так всё по часам, система охлаждения штатная).

   

    Пробовал virtualbox, hyper-v, vmware workstation. Понравился последний, но один минус который пока не нравится, это деления ресурсов процессора, не в % как у первых двух, а по ядрам (может так лучше, пока думаю это минус, если не так - поправьте).

    Да и не подумайте, что все 60 вируталок будут на однойфизической машинке.

I have been trying all through Saturday and cannot get a login, I finally gave up and called the US helpdesk (I'm in the UK) and they confirmed there is an issue with the site.

But some are on here reporting that they can login so is it just the UK that is affected?

 

There is no official comms from VMware that there is a problem, and the mylearn site has an alert regarding a Site update on Friday. Totally dumb timing to update the site 4 days before everyone is rushing to complete their Delta exams.

 

More badly handled VMware issues....

 

This sucks, I wanted to do my exam on Saturday.

I can listen to sounds from my headset in horizon view 6 when plugged into my desktop but the micorphone does not work

 

any idea? Its a non usb heaset/mic

Does your workflow accept two (and no more) inputs: one is a vcac:virtualMachine and the other is a String (the ouname)?

no mouse in linux Xorg

Hi, I have installed arch linux with host=win7 and guest = archlinux.

 

When I go into any window manager i.e. xfce or twm, the mouse does not show/interact at all. The keyboard does work.

 

When i installed GPM (general purpose mouse), the mouse does appear in the virtual console. How can i get the moust to work under an X window manager?

 

I installed xf86-input-vmmouse as requested on the arch install page.

 

Any help appreciated.

So i'm glad we are finally drilled down to seeing the actual problem in action. Do we have any idea whether it is the esxi host or the drobo that initiated these messages that kill the connection?

 

also, i will verify that the mtu on the drobo, vswitch and vnics are all the same.(*note, I checked and they are all the same) All of the notes on the article seemed to reference switches, even the second note about dell switches. i could set the drobo mtu higher like the note recommends if you want, let me know.

 

drobo support suggested that broadcom nics cause lots of problems and if I tried an intel nic it would probably work, so I ordered one to try.

 

what else would you suggest for me to try? Do you have any more ideas about why these disconnects are happening now that you see the nop in/nop out messages?

How do you update the CLI/API/Web password on the NSX Manager?

I've looked in several places and not seen how to change the password for direct access to the NSX Manager (i.e. not via vCenter):

  • NSX 6 Installation and Upgrade Guide.pdf
  • nsx_61_api.pdf
  • The NSX Manager CLI itself (in privileged mode or not)
  • configuration of the NSX Manager in vCenter's "Networking and Security" (a long shot)
  • The NSX Manager web UI

 

Is there a way to change it?
