vCloud Connector - Unable to copy vApp from vCloud Director to vSphere

$

Evening,

Trying to copy a vApp from vCloud Director 5.6 to vCenter 5.5 using vCloud Connector 2.7.

The scenario:

- vCloud Director fully configured with one Org, one Org vDC and one catalog;

- Catalog is fully populated, shared and published;

- Org and catalog are configured to allow publishing to external organizations;

- vCenter and vCloud Director were successfully added to vCloud Connector throught the vSphere Client plug-in;

- vCloud Connector plug-in is able to see the entire vSphere and vCD structures (folders, orgs, catalogs, vApps, templates, etc).

Replicating the error:

- Using the vSphere Client, click the vCD Org;

- Go to the vApps tab;

- Select a powered off vApp;

- Click Copy;

- Select Catalog (it is marked as Shared and, oddly, as Unpublished);

- Select vCenter as target;

- Select Clusters, Folders, Datastore, disk format and so on;

- Power On vApp after deploy (or not, does not matter);

- Validate (Returns Success);

- Finish.

Task begins and fails within a minute (or less) with the following message:

"OVF export failed. Failure while copying data from cloud: https://<vcloud_director_fqdn>. Reason: [ 0e65fbc1-4e04-4924-ae06-c4377dfc97af ] There is no catalog in the organization."

Looks like vCloud Connector, for some reason, is unable to locate the Catalog during deployment (although it can be perfectly seen during the Copy wizard and within its inventory).

I tried searching for it and did not find anything similar to this error.

Perhaps it´s a vCD configuration error, but what could it be? I´ve already selected every kind of option to allow catalog publishing and sharing and nothing changed.

I also successfully published the vCD Catalog to the vCloud Connector Content Library, so nothing else makes sense to me.

No compatible network adapter found after a reboot on a working ESXi 5.5.0

$

Hello,

I have two servers Dell R720 with Broadcom BCM5720 and BCM5719 with ESXi 5.5.0 Build 1623387.

The two servers were working fine for a year with some reboots without problem.

Today I wanted to update to Esxi 5.5.0 Update 2.

I ve downloaded the iso ESXi 5.5 Update 2D.

I successfully upgrade the first server.

When I tried to upgrade the second sever, I had during the first boot an error message: No compatible network adapter found.

So I cancel the installation, remove the usb key and reboot (No upgrade was performed)

Now the server always give me the same message.

So I don't understand what happen and why my server won't boot?

Any help appreciated

Best regards,

Christophe

Scrambled screen when booting ESXi 5.5u2 installer via UEFI... comes up fine with BIOS boot..

I'm trying to set up a home server using a SuperMicro X10SL7-F + e3-1241v3.

I burned a DVD and am able to get the installer running booting through BIOS (was able to install onto an on-board USB stick and stood up a test linux VM... no sweat).

I decided to re-install using a UEFI boot instead and it seems my monitor is displaying it in the incorrect resolution (monitor claims the installer is using 800x600 yet when I use the BIOS boot, it says 1024x768). (I see ESXi yellow and it seems to responsive to my input).

FWIW I also tried creating a uefi compatible usb stick and that just gives me an error (Command line is empty, Syntax Error)

Any suggestions for moving forward? Am I wrong in assuming UEFI is preferred in this day and age?

When was the last time ESXi 5.5 Host re-booted and total no of times re-booted in last 1 month.

View 6.01 - Mac Client - You are not entitled to use this system

Hi All,

Running a View 6.01 (test) environment with two hosts, one the Connection Server and One RDS host.

Its a published app only. One App only.

All configured and licensed. Local access at the office works fine both on the Windows and Mac client..

When connect to environment remotely (via an sslvpn which has full access to internal LAN) I experience the following error:

MAC Client - You are not entitled to use the system. (see screenshot)

The Windows client works as fine.

Its just the MAC client causing the error. Mac OS is Yosemite 10.10.3 and the Mac Client 2.3 (1551379)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Move VM to a new Reservation/Storage

One question on this - does moving vCAC-managed VMs onto different storage upset vCAC/vRAs understanding of what capacity is available for provisioing new VMs on a given reservation?

i.e. will vCAC be retrospectively aware that there is less/more space available on a particular datastore/datastore cluster?

Many thanks in advance for any confirmation

8 Concurrent vMotions not working over 10GbE

I'm on ESXi 5.5 with 10GbE connectivity for dedicated vMotion vmnics but still I can get only 4 concurrent vmotions per host.

While it should be 8 concurrent vMotions.

Any idea what am I missing or what can I check ?

RTT value is less then 1ms, so there's no latency on my vmotion network.

Re: Situation as described here. p2v conversion possible at all?

For any unsupported 3rd party images you can do the conversion treating the VM as physical source: power on the VM through its own hypervisor and convert it as a 'physical machine'.

Re: thin provision on SSD backed datastore

hi JarryG

thanks for the reply

I wonder if there is a need to set the limit on physical usable SSD space for a virtual disk in the future

(due to the fact that a write-intensive virtual storage could consume large amount of SSD space, leading to frequent GC which can be perceived by the other co-existing virtual storages)

thanks again  ^^

It should be possible to get this working. A few things to check:

1. Do you have RTAV installed and enabled? This is needed for microphones to work.

2. After that, please check the mixer on the client side to ensure the microphone is enabled and has a suitable input level. Try recording something on client side and check the volume etc is OK

3. In the guest VM.check that the VMware virtual microphone is enabled, is not muted and has a suitable input level set in Microsoft audio mixer properties.

4. Check the VMware virtual microphone is the input audio device selected. And verify you are running in a pcoip session.

If its stilll not working after all this then ping back, as I may need to see some log extracts.

Cheers

Peterb
